Promotion of the monograph "King Milutin"
On November 13, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Republic of Bulgaria hosted the promotion of the monumental monography "King Milutin", winner of the annual awards of Matica Srpska and the State Archives of Serbia.
This 2022 edition is the result of the work of 16 distinguished experts and researchers of the Serbian Middle Ages, who responded to the call of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar Foundation to present the personality of King Milutin in a comprehensive and vivid manner - on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of his death.
The esteemed professor Aksinija Durova, long-time director of the Ivan Duichev Center for Byzantine-Slavic Research at Sofia University, a foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Dr Srdjan Pirivatrić from the Byzantine Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, president of the Serbian Committee for Byzantology and former diplomat in Sofia, as one of the editors, spoke about the creation, content, significance and meaning of this bilingual monography at the promotion. The promotion was also attended and addressed by the epitrop of Hilandar, Father Teodosije.
The presentation of the book was attended by prominent representatives of the academic community from Sofia. With this, the Embassy concluded this year's cycle of thematic events, which, from the last days of October to mid-November, celebrate the reign of King Milutin - as a timeless figure who has united Serbian and Bulgarian history, culture and tradition for centuries.
